Wiener Philharmoniker: Lorenzo Viotti: Le Chevalier à la rose

At the turn of the 20th century,
Austria’s capital city was still very much in a Romantic mood for romanticism! Lush orchestral music, emotion-packed storytelling, glamour, nostalgia… In this concert, the Wiener Philharmoniker have sampled two pieces that capture the spirit of the era. Richard Strauss’ iconic Rosenkavalier and a lesser-performed Sinfonietta by a young Erich Wolfgang Korngold, who went on to become one of Hollywood’s favourite composers.

The music: Richard Strauss: Der Rosenkavalier. Suite; Erich Wolfgang Korngold: Sinfonietta
The artists: Wiener Philharmoniker; Lorenzo Viotti (conductor)
