CinEast 2026: Ukraine and the EU - ciné-debate

Sun, Oct 11, 2026 at 7pm

About this event

🇺🇦 🇪🇺 Ukraine’s EU future is also Europe’s future – a ciné-debate with special guest Jean Asselborn.

What does joining the European Union mean for Ukraine – and what could it mean for Europe?

As Ukraine continues its path towards EU membership amid the ongoing war, The EUkrainian takes us inside the diplomatic and political efforts behind one of Europe’s most consequential processes.

Directed by Viktor Nordenskiöld, the documentary follows Ukraine’s road towards European integration – from negotiations and reforms to the challenges of navigating EU politics in wartime.

The screening will be followed by a discussion on Ukraine and Europe: the complex road towards EU accession, but beyond, on the possible paths and scenarios ahead for both Ukraine and Europe, nearly five years after the start of the full-scale invasion.

Joining the conversation will be Jean Asselborn, former Foreign Affairs Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of Luxembourg, who followed European and international politics at the highest level for nearly two decades, including the major geopolitical shifts triggered by Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

The debate will be moderated by journalist Philippe Schockweiler.
