Anouar Brahem: After the Last Sky

«Where should the birds fly, after the last sky?»:
It is from this poignant line of verse by poet Mahmoud Darwish that Anouar Brahem’s latest project derives its title and its existential gravity. The result of an anxious gaze on our contemporary world and the horror of the tragedies that beset it, the album is enhanced by a cello, which the Tunisian oud player has incorporated into his refined compositions for the first time.

The artists: Anouar Brahem (oud); Anja Lechner (cello); Django Bates (piano); Mats Eilertsen (double bass)
